Social Media Guidelines and Code of Conduct

The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Arizona

Social Media Guidelines

The presence of Arizona Freemasons on various social networking sites is growing exponentially, and drawing attention to our fraternity. By participating on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin (and others), we should strive to make the attention as positive as possible. When we represent ourselves as members of the fraternity, we become someone’s impression of Arizona Freemasonry. It is important to act accordingly and subscribe to the lessons we are taught as Masons in terms of how we communicate and interact with Masons and non-Masons.

Social Media Code of Conduct

  • As Masons, we should conduct our social media activities in a manner which presents a positive image of our membership in Freemasonry to the world.
  • As Masons, we need to be aware that postings are a permanent record. Our conduct may influence the world with a positive or negative opinion about us personally and any organization(s) to which we belong.
  • Our actions on social media outlets should reflect the same high standards of morality and integrity which we practice within the Lodge.
  • To ensure our fraternity is represented to the high standards we believe in, we must regulate our actions through Brother-to-Brother intervention. As Masons, we should advise a Brother if we feel his posting is improper within the framework of our Constitution, Revised Arizona Masonic Statutes, rules, regulations, and edicts.
  • Do not identify any Freemason as a member of the Craft unless he has provided his consent, or identified himself as such.
  • Lodge notices and information contained within Lodge notices, beyond the time and place of a meeting, should never be discussed.
  • Never discuss information relating to the business of a Lodge or any discussions held within our tiled doors.
  • Posting of pictures or videos of Lodge events must comply with the Constitution, Revised Arizona Masonic Statutes, rules, regulations, and edicts.
  • Information concerning Lodge social activities must comply with the regulations already in place in the Revised Arizona Masonic Statutes, rules, regulations, and edicts (reforence to alcohol or certain games of chance).
  • Never discuss information related to a petition or background investigation of an applicant.
  • Never discuss anything relating to the balloting of an applicant.
  • No official communication with other Grand Lodges, or their subordinate lodges, may take place online.
  • Contact must be conducted through the Office of the Grand Secretary.
